INSTITUTIONAL REVIEW BOARD (IRB)

A very important group of individuals at your school is your Institutional Review Board.  This is a group of at least three (3) people:  an administrator, a science teacher other than yourself, and a medical professional.   These individuals have the responsibility to approve all projects which involve the use of human subjects, prior to the start of research.   If the project involves the observation of human behavior, then the medical professional must be a psychiatrist or a psychologist.   Because many of you do not have an individual at your school that fits these qualifications, we have solicited the aide of several professionals in the area to serve as your IRB member in this capacity.  If you are in need of their help, please contact:

Dr. Matthew Fanetti - 417-836-6842

Dr. Fanetti will see that you are provided with a qualified individual to review the project in advance of the start of the research.
